Damage build
Can anyone give me or point me in the direction of a good damage build? Please don't tell me to search because that just doesn't work here anymore.
Thx.

Are you looking for single target Damage, or are you looking for a build to spread damage around, or are you looking for a DoT build? There are alot of different ways to deal damage...so might help if you specify what you want to do with your ranger.

Another good question is whether you are going PvP or PvE. Also what is your secondary?

Well actually, I'd like one for both. My secondary can be what ever I want it to be.

If that's the most Godly thing, then it must be the devil behind the search feature being disabled. Every gosh dam time I try to use the freaking thing, that's what I get. If you'll notice, I said that very thing in my message.
Bloody Death....that was the first place I looked and I didn't find anything. Thanks for nothing.
Maybe I should have been more specific. Like, do any rangers have any good damage builds that they use that they'd be willing to share? If you're going to point out the search function, which I already freaking know about and which very rarely works just don't reply at all.

Here's a good Ranger damage build - damage is armor dependent so best for soft targets:
R/E
15 Wilderness (11+3+1)
9 Fire
9 Marksmaship (8+1)
9 Expertise (8+1)
Dual Shot
Savage Shot
Kindle Arrows
Conjure Flame
FLEX
FLEX
FLEX (ELITE)
Res
Equip a Vamp bow and your arrows are doing +39 per hit. (Dual Shot is +78 :-) Note that you do not need your elite. Find a way to get Favorable winds on your team and thats another 6 damage per arrow.
If in Random Arenas, perhaps you would run your flex slots like this:
Pin Down (Warrior Defense)
Distracting Shot (Nice for Res Sigs)
Melandru's Resilience (Self Heal)

Well, I don't ever play a straight damage dealer in PvP, but if I was gonna go for pressure it'd be something like this.
Apply Poison.
Degen is what you're gonna use in PvP to pressure the other team in most cases, cause it allows you to use many many other skills, like interrupts, or cripple shot. You'll be out damaged by other classes, so you'd need to focus on Utility rather than straight damage.
For PvE there are a couple I use. If my focus is going to be a primary damage dealer (like if there is only one warrior...) then I generally bring a quickshot/tiger's fury build or a dualshot build. It'd be something like this....
Quick shot build
1. Tiger's Fury
2. Quick Shot
3. RtW/Kindle Arrows
4-8. Flex
For the flex, I'd bring an interrupt, a self heal, a envasion skill, rez sig and maybe a damage or support skill. You have a lot of flexibility cause most of your damage comes from Tiger's fury. Pretty much you use a preperation, use tiger's fury, then just alternate between a normal attack, and quickshot.
DualShot Build
1. Kindle Arrows/Read the Wind
2. Dual Shot
3. Penetrating Attack.
4-8 Flex.
This one you just throw up Kindle then alternate between Dual and Penerating attack. This one uses energy much quicker so it'd be important to pump up your expertise.
For both builds you'd need to use either a Short bow or a flatbow with a vampiric mod to bump up your damage. If you plan on using a flatbow, I would use Read the Wind instead of Kindle. You really don't need to focus the entire build on dealing damage, so you have plenty of room to play with these builds.
Some people also use a Conjure Element to bump up the damage of the QuickShot build.
If you have primary damage dealers in you group already, I'd use barrage. That one skill is really all you need, so you're free to use your other seven slots as you see fit!

search is funny...just be patient with it. but really all you have to do is cruise through this forum. you'll find hundreds of ranger builds and plenty of ideas just by browsing. reading what's already been put down will help you more than someone giving you a build.
i like this one-
melandru's arrows
dual shot
penetrating attack
distracting shot
whirling D
tiger's fury
troll unguent
res
deviant's build i believe. great against enchantment users like wammos, monks and eles.

I've got a question. You say to use conjure flame and that only works if you're using a fire weapon but then you say to use a vamp bow. So, what's the point of conjure flame then?

Kindle arrows makes conjure flame activate even if you arent using a fire weapon.

Well, even though you want power, you still gotta be able to get away somehow. I think you should get barb or spike trap because they can deal a lot of damage depending on your attributes and then always have a distracting shot, that'll save your life, dont' ask why, you'll get it. Also, degen is a very good way to kill things, even a 55 monk. oh just poison and make him bleed and then just get ready to distract stuff =D. I'm sure you can disagree with my opinion, but hey, it's an opinion.
Here's my ranger if you're itnerested to look at all lol.
Healing Prayers - 7
Wilderness Survival - 11 (7+3+1)
Expertise - 12 (9+3)
Marksmanship - 12 (11+1)
and then my skills are
Penetrating Attack
Poison Arrow
Lightning Reflexes
Healing Breeze
Troll Unguent
Distracting Shot
Barb Trap
Restore life/ressurect/res signet
I think it's a pretty good build. Also, be sure you get those 30 attribute point from the quests in the desert and the Shouthern Shiver Peaks. I still need to do the one in the Shiver Peaks.
